Question about Blades Of Steel and Repeating Strike - Guild Wars Forums

1. Plz tell me what does "dagger atack" mean, in the description of the skill: it must be a dagger mastery skill or it must be a skill that uses a dagger.

2. And does blades of steel count it self as a refreshing dagger atack when used?

3. Could I spam RP without using another offhand atack?

4. How is calculated the dmg from a skill that uses a dagger? Bonus dmg +
dagger dmg=final dmg?

Well, I don't use daggers much, but the basics should be the same.

1. If it says "Dagger attack" in the description, it is an attack that uses the dagger as a weapon. It's the same as Sword Attack, Axe Attack, etc. Melee Attack means it's an attack with a melle weapon, which can be sword/dagger/axe/hammer. So, in respose to your question, it must be an attack skill that uses the dagger.

2. Yes, blades of steel is counted.

3. No, you can't spam it. You need an offhand attack for BoS to be available, and you need a regular attack to make the offhand available. But this way, using three skills, you get the max bonus from BoS.

4. Dagger dmg + Bonus dmg. They sometimes appear separately (two damage indicators above your victim), sometimes not, depending on the skill. But first it's the weapon inherent damage, and then any bonuses.

To be able to spam Repeating Strike (I assume this is what was meant by RP) you would need another offhand attack available. Repeating Strike is an offhand attack that must follow another offhand, and cannot be used directly after a lead (if you tried it, it would fail and still cost you the energy and attack swing). This holds true for all offhand and dual attacks with one elite exception - if they are used out of sequence all the effort is wasted.

All attack skill damages are calculated in the same way. First, the weapon does its normal damage and any damage reductions from enemy armor are taken into account. Then the skill's bonus damage is added on to give the final damage. For dual attacks, you can expect to see two damage figures floating up as these attacks strike twice (like a doublestrike).

I saw a guide using way of the empty palm and repeating strike. The guy who wrote it said that he would spam repeating strike after casting way of the empty palm.

I was confused after reading that guide and the skill description: repeating strike is an offhand atack that requires an offhand atack.

Well, yeah. Because Repeating Strike *IS* an offhand attack. So it follows itself.

And Way Of The Empty Palm will give it to you for free.
